About this project
It is reported that approximately 415 million people have diabetes worldwide. Diabetic retinopathy is a complication that can arise from diabetes, and affects eyesight by increasing the risk of loss of vision and blindness. The current process of diagnosing diabetic retinopathy is a complicated and lengthy procedure.
Anika therefore created an AI that can help aid and increase the speed of diagnosis. Her AI-based Neural Network classifies a given set of fundus images and can diagnose the level of risk of diabetic retinopathy.
In the future, Anika hopes to improve her AI so that it can also detect other eye diseases and be able to track the progress of their cure and treatment. She also hopes to increase the accuracy of her AI from 95% to 100%. Anika would like her project to be used in the healthcare industry to help patients in early diagnosis and treatment.
