Five Ways AIClub Research Institute Is Different: High School Research, High School Entrepreneurship

Parents exploring research programs often ask the same question: what's actually different? Here are five ways that we stand out, and what each one means for a student.

Five ways AIClub Research Institute is Different.

1. A record you can check

- More than 400 student wins since 2019, across research, competitions, and more. See the numbers.

- College outcomes. Nearly half of our students go on to an Ivy League school, MIT, Stanford, Caltech, or a school at that level, and more than 80% go to those schools or to a top-ranked program in their chosen major. Here is the breakdown.

We don't promise outcomes, and no program should. We can show a record, and you can check it.

2. Mentors in Residence, backed by instructors

Every mentor at AIClub is a Mentor in Residence: a full-time member of the institution, not a freelancer matched to a family for one project. Instructors support additional learning, so a student can build the skills a project needs without the work stalling, and a support team looks after parents along the way. The student does the work. The people around them make sure they have what they need to do it well. Why this matters - see student journeys and playbooks here.

3. No cohorts

Many programs run in cohorts: a fixed start date, a fixed end date, and a group moving at one pace. We don't. Each student starts when they're ready, works at their own pace, and finishes when the work is done. The project is uniquely theirs: their question, their interest, their pace.

It also makes the work clearer. When a project belongs to one student, it's clear who did what. There is no question about who is the first author on a paper, and no need to explain in any application which student did the most work.

4. Interdisciplinary, and focused on AI

Nearly every field, from medicine to agriculture to climate to music, is being reshaped by AI. We focus on AI as the method that lets a student explore the field they care about, so they're prepared for an AI-infused future in whatever career or area of study they choose. Our students' papers span an unusually wide range of fields, and each began with a problem the student wanted to solve. Here is that this looks like.

5. Research, Apps and Entrepreneurship. Backed by founders who have PhDs, publications, patents, and have founded multiple companies.

A paper is one part of a project's journey. Our students earn credentials at every stage: recognition in innovation competitions including the Conrad Challenge, Technovation Girls, the Diamond Challenge, Blue Ocean, and the Congressional App Challenge; papers and presentations at professional conferences; patents; and invitations to Y Combinator's Startup School. A student can shine in the area they care about in several dimensions: research, building, and entrepreneurship.

That breadth comes from a founding team that has done it. Every founder holds a PhD, and our founders have excelled at both research and entrepreneurship, with many publications and patents (one founder alone holds more than 75 issued U.S. patents) and several startup exits, including ParallelM, acquired by DataRobot, and Jasper, acquired by Cisco. Similarly, our advisors have significant experience in founding companies and creating industry leading software suites, and have seen their domains from many successful perspectives.

This means that your student gets the advantage of being part of a research institute where they can see what success looks like in college and beyond. Our invited speakers have ranged from Harvard, NASA, Google, NVIDIA, Stanford, and beyond. At a time when many students and families are concerned about what AI means to the future, we show students what they can become in an AI-infused world.

Put together

A record you can check. Mentors who are part of the institution. A project that is yours alone. A focus on the AI-infused future. And a team that has built both research and companies. If that sounds like what your student needs, we'd be glad to talk.
